On behalf of the Swedish IFA Branch it is my pleasure as President of the Local Organising Committee to welcome you to the 79th IFA Congress, which will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, from 19 to 23 September 2027.
This is the third time that Stockholm has the pleasure to host an Annual IFA Congress. Previous Annual IFA Congresses were held in 1967 and 1990.
Stockholm, one of the most beautiful capitals in the world, is sometimes called the Venice of the North, with Lake Mälaren to the west and the Baltic Sea to the east, water surrounding the city and its medieval Old Town. There are many ferries in all directions, for instance to the Stockholm archipelago with tens of thousands of islands.
The Congress venue is the centrally located Stockholm Waterfront Congress Center, only a few steps from the central train station and many hotels. In most cases participants will be able to reach Congress venue, city and social events by foot, and there are buses, metro and commuter trains close by. A direct train will take you from the airport to Stockholm in 20 minutes.
We expect the IFA 2027 Stockholm Congress to attract more than two thousand participants from all parts of the world who will be offered a very interesting scientific program as well as a social program covering highlights of Swedish culture.

As Chair of IFA Sweden it is my privilege to welcome you to the 79th IFA Congress in Stockholm.
There will be a social program designed for a unique experience of Stockholm.
The Opening Ceremony will take place at the Waterfront Congress Center followed by a reception. One evening will be devoted to the Museum of the 17th century warship Vasa that sank on its maiden voyage and was retrieved from the bottom of the sea. Another evening will highlight some interesting aspects of Swedish culture.
There will of course be a YIN Party, with music and drinks at the traditional ballroom of Berns.
The closing dinner will be served in the Blue Hall at the beautiful City Hall where Nobel laureates celebrate after receiving their awards for outstanding research. The evening will end with dancing to ABBA music in the Golden Hall.
Alongside the organized events, Stockholm offers great opportunities for private seminars and events to be arranged before, during and after the congress.

The scientific programme of the IFA 2027 Stockholm Congress will address issues of major relevance to the international tax community. Main Subject 1 will examine tax incentives in the post-BEPS era (General Reporter: Prof. Itai Grinberg, USA). Main Subject 2 will address the taxation of services in the digital era (General Reporter: Prof. Jérôme Monsenego, Sweden). The seminars will complement the scientific programme by covering a broad range of topical issues, including multilateral tax treaties, the use of artificial intelligence in tax compliance, the interaction between constitutional law and tax law, and transfer pricing and customs. The programme will also include the traditional seminars IFA/OECD, IFA/EU, WIN, YIN, and Recent Developments in International Taxation.
